Section A

Provide a short overview, including a description of the qualification you enrolled in, the name of your Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and employer, as well as your reason for choosing this industry and training pathway.

Additionally, provide a brief explanation on why you became a member of the ETU and any associated benefits of being a member that you recognise.


SELECTION CRITERIA

Selection criteria

In your nomination, you must present your information in a way that clearly addresses each criterion. We will be looking for evidence of how your on and off-the-job training has contributed to:


  • your career and study plans 

  • the development of your skills and your achievements to date

  • any way in which your training may have helped you achieve other pursuits or goals

  • the development of your union values and core beliefs.

In developing your nomination, you may wish to take into account some or all of the considerations outlined in each
criterion.

These considerations are not additional criteria, rather are provided to give clarification and guidance of what may be
relevant to include when addressing the criteria in your application.


Criteria 1: Career and study achievements

Consider things such as:

  • any personal or career gains you have achieved from participating in your studies and your job

  • how you can demonstrate your understanding of the VET system and the value it has in Australia

  • how you have integrated on and off-the-job training and what benefits this has held

  • the commitment to your apprenticeship, including satisfactory progression of on and off-the-job training
    requirements

  • the importance of up-to-date E-Profiling records

  • how you contribute to safety in the workplace

Criterion 2: Communication, team and leadership skills

Consider any skills you may have developed through your apprenticeship or involvement with the ETU, such as :

  • effective oral and written communication

  • effective team participation

  • your level of resilience in challenging situations

  • leadership and promotion of your training, industry, the ETU or any other things you may be involved in

  • your capacity to be an effective ambassador for the electrical industry .
    It can also include paragraphs.

Criterion 3: Ability to represent the ETU in the national training system

Consider telling us about:

  • any knowledge you have of the VET sector and the structure of the national training system

  • any knowledge or understanding you have of new or emerging technologies in the electrical industry

  • any knowledge you have of electrical licensing requirements and the importance of ensuring the integrity of electrical trades

  • any messages you may have to encourage others who are interested in taking up an electrical apprenticeship, including increasing female participation

  • any strategies you may have to encourage more apprentices to join the ETU, including peer to peer recruitment 

Criterion 4: other pursuits or interests

You may wish to include information about:

  • any achievements outside of study and work

  • any community or charity involvement

  • your awareness of current social, political, cultural and economic issues

  • passport photo

  • photocopies of awards or certificates

  • letters of support (these may come from an ETU delegate, teacher, community group etc)

  • newspaper articles

  • profiling records

  • resume (including referees)
